Growing up with trauma, chaos, and without the right emotional support can leave adults feeling as though they have no idea who they are.  Often people say, “My childhood wasn't that bad”  later to only find out during therapy they lived through complex trauma. Or, people are told, “Your childhood wasn't that bad!” which further undermines the person's experience.

As a result, you have difficulties with decision-making, relationships, and the overall quality of life is unsatisfying. You may look “well put together” but inside you feel an empty numbness. Fear of abandonment, fear of rejection, fear of judgment, and fear of not being good enough link the past to the present keeping you bound to the past pain. Attempting to end the fears leads to people-pleasing, putting other people’s needs before your own needs is just what we are “supposed” to do yet leaving you feeling drained and nowhere close to the self-esteem or acceptance you were hoping for. Or, maybe other avoidant behavior like drinking, eating, shopping, or scrolling on your phone for hours. No matter the behavior (or lack of), thought, or emotion you don’t have to be trapped.

Despite the experience of trauma...People are RESILIENT. The human body can be healed through the work done in counseling. Addressing the whole person and creating an individualized treatment plan is key in trauma recovery. This is done through understanding your personal concerns. Maybe you have been in counseling for years, or off and on, or this is your first time seeking help no matter where you are in this process of recovery therapy can help.

Learning about who you are as an individual will help you gain self-confidence, leading to a life of fulfillment.

This requires the person to reconnect to their body, discover who they truly are and what they need in order to heal themselves. As an advocate for the relentless pursuit of individuality and well-developed self-identity, I work with people to reconnect to their true selves.

When people are living in service of who they are, they become best positioned to use their strengths and engage in a more meaningful life. Through the work that I do I hope to make the world a better place by helping people feel confident in being who they are and share that with the world.
